Can anyone tell me some info on what my rear is and from what.

It is supposed to be from a 86 olds 442.

the numbers stamped on the axel tube is 8TFGO14

Not sure on the numbers but if it is a 8.5 its rare, and brings big money. looking at it from the rear if it were in a car there will be squared off corners at the bottom of the housing and no eyebrow on the cover. Those were used in Grand Nationals, 442s and Buick "T" type turbo cars only as far as I know. They usually had 3.73 gears and posi some had 3.42s. Some had no posi. Very good strong rear end, almost as strong as a 12 bolt.

Yes thats what this is, no "fangs" on the bottom .
it's peg leg rear but it has 3.42 gears.
I just wanted to make sure of what it is before ordering parts to rebuild it.

you can build that to be plenty strong. i have moroso brute strength posi's in stock(they are no longer available) 28 spline w/800 lb springs and steel clutch's. you can also install a 30 spline posi w/stronger 30 spline axles. tom
