hey guys i just infished the install of my new 2004R and the shifter and lockup devices. i cant tell if my converter is locking up or not. i shift into 4th and i dont feel it lock up, but im cruising at around 2000 rpm. i dont know if its locking up immediately, or if its just not locking up... i have a tci lockup wiring harness and i have the internal wiring harness installed and the external wires hooked up properly... i have the black switch grounded, and i also have the power set up to a 12V key on source... the little vacuum line is attached to the top of my intake manifold (where the old powerglide got its vacuum from) and not the carb's manifold vacuum... how can i tell if it is locking up or not?

Hey Mike, Glad to have met you tonight at the Diner. Sorry I could not be of more help with the answer to the convertor question. The guys on this site are great and someone may have the answer.

Hope you have a great time and win some money when you participate in the Pinks All Out at Englishtown this year.

Looking forward to seeing you throughout the summer.

If I recall the 2004r locks up in 3rd. If your car has a tach you should be able to tell if it is locked up. Push the gas down a little and see if the rpm has a large change, like 300 rpm, if it does probably not locking up. Or go up a hill and see if it unlocks when under load.

My 200 4r won't lock up until I'm doing 60 or so. In fact, it won't even go into overdrive until then. Mine almost feels like a 5th gear plus you can see the tach rpms drop ever so slightly.

you might not feel it shift if the your running a high gear in the rear , you may need a 3.83 or lower gear

i installed the TCI lockup kit with the pressure switch so that it only locks up in forth gear.

i have 4.11s.

its either not locking up at all, or it is locking up the instant that i shift it into 4th gear. does anyone have the tci lockup kit?

If it comes with the TCI Streetfighter 200 4r, then yes, I have the TCI lock-up kit. I also installed the manual lock-up switch under the dash.

u know what? i think i found out the issue. it isnt locking up. i think i have the switch wired up wrong. my 12 volt source is going into the switch instead of straight from the trans to the 12v source... ill investigate tomorrow...

i just checked and the 12v source isnt going through the switch. i just switched the grounding terminals on the switch... hopefully ill get a different result when i drive it tomorrow.
