: Differences in seats

I'm rebuilding a Q-jet, and am about to put it on my car tomorrow. However, as I was changing the seat from what was in there to the one in the rebuild kit, I noticed a HUGE difference in seats. The old seat is solid (excluding the hole the gas goes through and such). The new one, however, has a hole in the side of it as well, all the way through. I'm thinking this will cause problems, as maybe fuel will just leak out the hole besides the hole where the needle is. Did I may get a needle for a Holley or something? Or is this new seat maybe a bit more efficient in filling the whole float bowl? Thanks for the info.

it's just a different style, they do the same thing. Those holes are above where the needle contacts the seat, so they are never exposed to fuel pressure.

IMHO, never mix and match needles and seats, it just doesn't work.
