: Urethane or solid mounts?

What type of motor and transmission mounts should I use for a car that will see 95% drag strip use? How about the rear suspension bushings?

The car is a low budget 1967 300/BB project. I guess I’m wondering if urethane will work as good as solid?

Thanks for any help.

I dont know how this applies too drag racing but when I was into circle track racing, most people would either run soft mounts on motor and trans both or else they would run solid mounts on the motor with a mid-plate between the motor and trans and then no crossmember. It may be ok too run solid both places in drag racing but with dirt cars having some hard impacts you did not want the motor and trans both solid. Ive also read that some people will run a urethane on one side and a solid on the side that lifts up when the motor torques.

My brother and I used to drag race with a 68 Nova, we installed solid engine, trans and body mounts along with other suspension mods. The car was permantly twisted from the torque after about 3 runs.

I use a solid on the drivers side, rubber on the passenger side and poly as a trans mount. I don't think you want to go solid on the trans mount, you'll break something, like a tailhousing.

I use solid for both motor mount and poly on the trans. You don't want solid in all three places. What happens is, as the frame twist a solid trans mount will cause the trans to twist, breaking the case. Something has to give and a soft trans mount is the best place for this. On my driver, I have poly on the left side (broke several rubber mounts) and rubber for the right side and trans.
