just about to put 67 coupe body back onto chassis should i refit it to the measurements i took it off to which was slightly offset to l/h side measuring frame to sill down length of car or should i centre it to get same distances. what did they do at factory. also is it worth putting the extra body mount in like the convertables and big blocks had for ls1 engine swap , yes i am using a new mounting kit. thanks

I always center them. The choice is yours if you want to add the extra cushions.

Mine was cockeyed too, rearend always stuck out one side more than the other, one wheel further forward too .For the first time in 12 years its perfect. Center that sucker, easy to do.

Use the factory alignment holes on the drivers side up by the firewall and in front of the rear wheel. This will insure that your front sheet metal will be in the correct place. You will know if it's right when you add the bumpers since the bumpers bolt to the frame and the body needs to fit between them. I added a hurst shifter to my 67 and the shifter body hit the floor plan towards the driver side. Simple enough I thought and moved the body over a little to get clearance. Added the front sheet metal and when I tried to add the bumper I had to shift the body back and open the hole in the floor.

having a bit of a hard time understanding your advice mine is fremont build LH/drive but can not find hole but on R/hand side there is hole thru chassis that looks to line up with hole in body mount is this what i use, this is similer to the way our aussie GM cars are done but they have one both sides at front as to one in front of back wheel i carn't seem to find. Factory assembly manuel mentions 3 pins to locate body on L/H side sorry if i sound a bit stupid i just want to get it right first time .Thanks

I didn't realize that you had a left LH drive. If you can't find the alignment holes, I'd center it and bolt the bumpers on to check your fit.

Craig, The alignment holes Shovel mentions are on the right (passenger) side of my 66 SS. They are about 3/4 inch diameter holes, one near the front mount and the second one on mine is next to the brace that runs under the back seat (this mount is not used for 2 Dr HT). You might check the PS at mount #4 for the second alignment hole.
Shovel mentioned these holes in a post of mine a couple months ago, I couldn't find them, but I was too stupid to look for them on the passenger side until today. Found them and my body is aligned perfectly on the frame.
