just got back from the chassie shop. had the pro version A.R.T. bar installed. everything looks good. had the car scaled and the corner weights set using the upper control arms. the anti-roll bar is set a 0. the car was 3535 (with me) with about 1-2 gallons of gas. 55.1% on the front. we add enough weight to simulate a full tank of gas and it went to 53.2%. was told putting the battery in the trunk would get me to 52%. may go to the track tomarrow night and see if the 60' get consistant. Sounds good Dave. Did they have any problems finding room for the install?

Did you ask them to look over your chassis setup and ask them for their opinion on your traction issues?

I could be wrong, but with Jason's problems on the DOT "cheater slicks", I'm wondering if that might be a major part of your problem right now??? (i.e. needing true slicks for comparison).

As another thought, have you tried a different track to see if track prep was a factor as well?

How about some pics of the new install?

Dave,

Why don't you come out to Angleton Dragway Saturday. They're running the Mini-Clobberthon but you can test & tune also. Gates open @ 1 PM and they'll probably run till midnight.
Mike Hurta and I will be out there.

Todd, the install turned out nice. he had to r/r the rear end to make room for the install. the upper spring buckets had to be notched a bit to make room as well. he looked for possable binding problems and found none. he also raised the question of spring harmonics causing the weight to shift front to rear to front several times in the 60'. he said running with more weight in the trunk "may" fix it. if not, replace a set of springs. he and Rafel seem to think if i get the 52% on the front its gona be wheels up and the problems fixed.

Dave, thanks for the invite, but i live near clevland and angleton would be a major drive for me. HRP is the only track ive been to so far. MRP is half the distance but the people ive talked to say its a testosterone filled track. a lot of the guys that run rankin road go there to be legal. just dosent sound like my kinda crowd.

preloading the chassie with the uppers has pushed my rear axil over to the right causing the left tire to rub against the inner fender well  graemlins/angry.gif . as usuall 1 step forward and 2 steps back. Dave

Preload on the upper control arms?

I personally prefer to run the suspension without any preload...that is what you have the anti-roll bar for...you can change the length of the passenger side of the anti-roll bar links by a tad to steer the car upon initial launch.

...and as you found, trying to shorten one upper control arm will uncenter the rear housing. The whole reason the upper control arms sit on such a severe angle to the centerline of the chassis is to keep the axle housing centered.

Didn't having the arms preloaded cause the corner weights to be way off when scaling the car?

Todd, the corner weights were set while i was in the car using the upper arms. Rick (my chassie guy) said he dosent like to use the hime joints for preload on a street driven car. at anyrate, i called him he said back off the uppers 2.5 turns (where they were) and set the weight on the bar. i did this and with a little tweaking with my hammer got me 1/4" wheel space. im going to set the battery in the trunk and go back to him in a few weeks and he said he would reset the corner weights.
