I went to remove the fuel pump pushrod since I didn't want the mechanical pump sucking and pushing air while running on the electric. The brass tip was worn off making the pushrod shorter and thus not applying enough movement to the pump arm to keep up with the demand of the pump.
It is likely it is my screw up I used an incorrect fuel pump pushrod :( .

Maybe the dot was blocking the fuel line?

Darn Tom,
does this mean I'm not gonna find out the results of running the Carter 172 plumbed with the Mallory 140?
I need to know, man. My '70 will be back home finally this Saturday. Assembly will then begin...may even have to work thru Mother's Day. ;)

Bill,
I will be running the 140 on it's own tomorrow if the rain holds off. Once I get my Buick done being painted in a month and use it to race a week or two I will pull the cam and replace if necessary and go back to the Carter pushed by the 140 OR just the Carter again depending on what happens tomorrow.
Some of the steel part of the pushrod was worn so I am afraid to put a new pushrod in because I don't know what the cam lobe looks like. My oil pump bypass is blocked.
