Whats the max cam bearing clearance specs for a sbc?
Is 0.005" too much and cause the journals to hammer the bearings?
And does timing chain stretch affect 'cam walk'?
TIA

It's normally listed as .002-.006
.005 is more than I would prefer but not all that unusual & there ain't much you can do about it without spending a LOT of money :(
It should not hammer the bearings out as all loading is in a downward direction so it isn't like what you see with rods & mains, different deal.
No, timing chain stretch should not affect cam walk.
If the cam (flat tappet) is ground properly it ain't going to "walk" anywhere anyway :D

Wolfplace,
I guess 0.005" WILL have to do!
I think I used the wrong term 'cam walk'. I meant the cam endplay. Whats the right way to measure it and the maximum that can be run without problems?

I knew what you meant ;) & unless this is a roller or you are running a gear drive don't worry about it.
If it's a roller I like about .005-.010, it isn't a real big deal.
