I just picked up a 396/402 engine and am trying to figure out what car it came out of. It is a J 24 9 dated 3969854 cast block. The numbers on the pad are T1027CTW 10A101404. I know it is a 350 hp block that could have been in a Chevelle, Camaro or Nova. The build date is only 3 days aftre the cast date of the block. The heads are the 3964290 cast J 21 9 date heads. Anyone here own the car with this VIN?
Thanks, James

Oct 27 build date mated to TH 400. The car was built in the Lakewood Plant. I will look the casting number up in my book.

Thanks for the response Jim but I know what the CTW code, casting numbers and dates all mean. I'm trying to figure out if it came out of a Chevelle, Camaro or Nova.

My book should tell us if it is a chevelle or not. I will post in the morning.

10A indicates a 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle assembled at the Atlanta, GA plant. 101404 is the sequence number and it's a very early car (1404th off the line).

Camaro or Nova were never produced at Atlanta GMAD (renamed Lakewood assembly in 1968) so it can only be from a Chevelle

Thanks for the responses. I was hoping it was a Chevelle engine but wasn't sure what cars were built in Atlanta.
