I had a very nice standard bore 350 sitting in my mother-in-laws garage. Her boyfriend moved the block off of a wooden block I had it on and set on the floor. The block got wet now it has surface rust on it.Any suggetions on how to clean it up?This block is 2 bolt.Should I just go get a 4 bolt?

I figure any standard bore 350 is worth keeping. Muriatic acid should take care of it...

Find a shop with a shot cabinet. I wouldn't do anything, though, until you're ready to machine it. No use in paying to have it cleaned up, then get surface rust on right back where you paid to have it removed from. If you can't find a shop with a shot cabinet, mount the block on your engine stand, head to a home improvement store and get a gallon of muriatic acid. Should be around the swimming pool stuff. Get a couple of cheap spray bottles (acid eats the guts out of every one I've ever tried), spray it all over the engine, then wait while it does it's work. Spray it off with water, blow the water off and just before it starts getting dry, spray heck out of it with WD-40. It will cling to the metal and displace the water. I took one that I thought was junk for sure and it turned out looking like a new block. Be careful, wear gloves and just like Uncle Pete after he's eaten granny's chili, DON'T STAND DOWN WIND!
