ok i have a 2 bolt main 327 with a th 327 not for sure on the comp ratio but i kno it has 74 or 76 cc heads and has only about285 or 290 hp and am wanting to hit about 375 hp for ****s and giggles and to play around with at the track.
im thinking of a 280H series comp magnum cam kit which is & a 2400 hole shot b&m converter and a new msd ignition system like a 6al box and a pro billet distibuter & a set of chromoly pushrods and comp 1.52 ratio roller rockers & to top my top end with a new speed demon carb like a 700 cfm or so i run a set of flowtech headers and a set of 2 1/4 40 series flow masters it will soon be a 411 posi 12 bolt .......
so do yall think i can acheive 375 - 425 hp

The little motor will run great with no more then a good old CC 268HE, 270 Magnum, a Crane 272/272 Energizer or an Isky 270 Mega cam if it is a stock about 9.75 to 10 to 1 motor with no more then a cheap set of 1.625" four tube, long headers and a Performer or Weiand 8004 and a 600cfm, Holley 1850 vacuum secondary carb.!!
Almost forgot but 62 to 64cc, 1.94"/1.50" double-humper heads go good too if you don't already have the 66 cc, D/H 2.02"/1.60" valved heads..
You will need more CR. to make her a thumper like up to 11, (or more), to 1 CR and then go an Isky Z-25 or Z-30 solid cam and recommended springs!! The only thing is that you just can't feed them anymore b/c ethyl gasoline is long gone!! And set up this way, she will run up until you lose your nerve OR the ignition cuts out if she holds together!!
I personally love the Little -097 Duntov, stock, solid cam in the little motor b/c no more bigger then it is, it RUN'S GREAT in one!! she will top out above 7,000rpm easy with no more then a stock set of cheap, -142 Z-28 valve springs that you can pick up at a whole lot of places!!
Hope this helps and it reminds me of my old junk 301 I beat on for quite a while..

You will not hit 375HP without a better set of heads or good porting.
With the 280Magnum I think the 11inch converter is not going to be enough to make a happy 327.
A 350 can live with it but it is not the best of situations.
Consider a 10inch 2800-3200 stall or the milder cams that PDQ has suggesed.

You need to give that motor more compression, and then a cam that will let you make power to 6500+.
That IS the way to make a short stroke motor THUMP! Compression and cam. Compression first. SOLID cam next.
PDQ , how about 64CC heads to get him close to 10:1 and then a Comp XS274S. Or maybe even the smaller XS268S.
