: Demon carb
Hi all.
I got a Demon carb from the old engine which I've taken out and is going to use it on my new 396, but: How do I find out what kind of Demon it is? I can't see to find any number or name on it:confused:
any ideas??
onovakind67 Mar 7th, 08, 6:50 AM Take some measurements and call Barry Grant.

ssal396 Mar 7th, 08, 10:50 AM If it's a road demon it will have a choke on it, I don't think the speed or the mighty demons come with chokes, do they?..
At least that would narrow it down..
rontoomanyprojects Mar 7th, 08, 10:53 AM I believe the speed has the choke horn, but no choke. The mighty has the choke horn milled off.
Tech @ BG Mar 7th, 08, 1:31 PM If you look on top of the main body beside the secondary vent tube there will be 1 or 2 numbers and maybe a dimple or a couple of letters. We can identify it from those or you can go to our website and click on Demon and technical support and we have just uploaded detailed carb id sheets.
DOUG G Mar 7th, 08, 5:18 PM BGTech, so far thats the only gripe I have with my (or any) Demon's... No list number for the end user for ID.
Verdict's still out as to any gains at the track, I have off this Saturday... and it's RAINING

I've always gotten great tech support from BG.
Their air bleed/jetting recommendation when I bumped up my King Demon RS from a 995 cfm to 1095 was perfect!
After this year's engine rebuild, I may try increasing the carb to an 1195 as a test. ;)
opivyrocks Mar 8th, 08, 11:27 AM Thats amazing, I wrote them with my carb info trying to identify my carb years ago and I got no reply, help, or direction. I personally see no reason why there would be no identifying marks and numbers on these carbs other than hinder the re-use and re-sell of their carbs and force people to buy new to get what they want. As most of us are gearheads or at least dabble with parts exchange this is a real pain. I cant seem to load the identify Demon page, which seems par for the course for my dealings with Barry Grant Demon's. I will say this is the first and last one i will ever own. At least with a Holley I know what I have.

I do too.
All I have to do is look up on the shelf in my shop and see them sitting there...collecting dust. ;) :D

Woha!! I must say.....Thanks alot everybody for alot of help:D:thumbsup: yet again a testamet to how great this page is:beers:
Now all I got to do is get over the fact that the oil pan on my new 396 does not fit in my Chevelle and I can't get the engine in for at least 3 weeks.... the Norwegian postal sevice sucks....it takes 4 days from i place the order at summit till it arrives in Norway, and up to 10 days to get it from Oslo and up north to my home.... I think they still use mules....

You can send it to me then. Course, it would probably just sit on my shelf and collect dust too.:);)
Glad to see there is a page that helps figure out your carb. I mean, you have to determine what rebuild kit your going to need when one gets worn and needs a rebuild right?
Tom Mobley Mar 8th, 08, 5:32 PM Tech@BG,
might want to look at this page: http://www.barrygrant.com/demon/images/Carb-identity-Road.pdf
First drawing is wrong. It's labeled "Road Demon - Top View" Text sez to check next to the secondary vent, but has a nice red line leading to the primary vent? Oops.
opivyrocks Mar 8th, 08, 6:16 PM Ok, they do have an ID page up now and it works. Please note that this page is new. I finally ID'd my carb today. I've had it for over two years. I still stand behind my post that there is no reason for not having (user) markings on the carbs. I still stand behind the statement that they made no effort what so-ever to help me. I dont have enough money for projects to invest in products that have no support of the maker. I am sure they are great carbs for some, just not me. Just my 2 cents and a maybe a warning for some. Am I bitter....Yes
DOUG G Mar 8th, 08, 8:12 PM I did get an e-mail stating what I had was as stated in add. Tech from BG was very helpfull with my questions.
Now they have a page for it  woohoo :D
Jebchevelle Mar 9th, 08, 4:44 AM I do too.
