Anyone know the car or around Edmond that can go look at it? The car has drum brakes, small block steering shaft, and more. The seller lists the data plate as having an "L" on the data plate. Anyone in the area that can check out the car? I'm not interested in the car just the confirmation of the "L". http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Chevrolet-Chevelle-CLASSIC-1969-CHEVELLE-GREAT-BODY-NO-MOTOR_W0QQitemZ140213192009QQcmdZViewItem?hash=ite m140213192009
Let me add that it is a Daytona yellow car...... Which is an SS only color. If it was a special order small block, I am under the impression that it would be a paint delete coded with the two dashes.

No small block SS cars in 69. As you probably know, a 76 paint code was an SS only color.

Could be the tag has been changed from a parts car?

That's what is odd about it.... The seller is not promoting the car as an SS. And with Oklahoma’s new law concerning the switching of body tags for financial gain, why switch tags. I'm inclined to believe that sometime in the life of the Chevelle it sustained heavy front end and frame damage. Someone had a rolling small block frame and they mounted the SS body on it.
But that is why I was asking if someone lived in the Oklahoma City area that could take a look at the car. And of course take pictures of it. I’m sure Andy would like the info for his ongoing and relentless 69 Chevelle research project.

It'd concern me with the SS only paint code that the tag was changed. Any special order paint would have dashes or the DuPont code depending on the plant. Obviously not an SS if it has drum brakes though. The car is in the same general area as the guy that prompted the law. Could be the tag and claim of SS is being avoided due to that issue.
I don't know exactly where Tom Parsons (DZAUTO) lives but Edmond is just northeast of OKC. Might try to track down Tom.

Looks to have the right steering shaft which dont mean anything.
Black bench seat column shift car.
Front fenders dont seem to have the holes in it for the SS 396 emblems, again dont mean anything.
July built cowl tag seems to match up pretty close to the vin, If the tag tag was changed I would have to say the vin tag was changed also. Has anyone asked for more pictures of the vin to see the rivets?.

Not an SS car but very solid looking from the pics. Worth 5K IMO as it is a good foundation for a build but needs many parts which will amount to 30K for a nice driver if you do all the work. Pics don't tell the story tho and a check for rust or work is in order.
