That lowers the value about $5000!
But all is not lost....a valuable engine 327/350 (???)

OK, trying to track this down further. Went to the garage, got my 1974 big blue MOTORs book.

"ID" engine code
8-327 with SHPE 1968 generic CHEVROLET application

looks like this reference is 68-74
possibly a 67 engine too, I suppose
Get the casting date, block casting number and assembly date stamping info

To the best of my knowledge....the 327/365 solid engine and 327/375 solid Fuel Injection engines were Vette only in 65.
They went away when the 396/425 came out early in 65 and the premier SBC in the Vette became the 327/350 engine with the #151 hyd cam.
This 327/350 became infamous in the 66 Nova

I've never seen a 327/350 in a full size Chevy......hmmmmm, Highway Patrol or County Mountie car?

There was no special hi perf 327 in 66 for fullsize cars and they would not have use the same suffix for two different applications.

Check the code again, there is no small block suffix code ID.

Please list the complete engine code, maybe you are missing 1 more digit in the suffix?

All the small block codes I have that are 2 digit and begin with an I are 1969 350 engines and most are police vehicles, L48, L65 and LM1 engines.

I guess when you don't get the answer you want on one site (TEAM CAMARO) (http://www.camaros.net/forums/showthread.php?t=128767), you try fishing on another!

Since he's not replying to either site now, I would say he's just playing games.

ascamaro, if you REALLY want an answer to your question, post a picture of the pad on either of these two sites.

OK, Colvin only shows ID as 427/425 no SBC listing
But my Motors book does show what I said, FWIW

Dean, nastyz28.com and chevy-camaro.com are two sites with known mistakes. (I'm guessing that's where you got your info.) A lot of these sites have incorrect data since most of them copied from each other! As Jim (click) stated on the Team Camaro site, they don't seem to respond to emails, so the data never gets fixed. It's too bad really. A lot of disinformation gets put out and this causes this exact type of problem!

These are only two sites that show the "ID" as a 327 code and even one of those (chevy-camaro.com) which shows the 327, also shows the correct 427/425 on the BIG BLOCK (http://www.chevy-camaro.com/chevy-camaro-chevy-bb-engine-suffix-codes.asp?group=4) page.

George, the Motors book isn't one I have. Can you scan that page in (or email it to me). I'd like to save it for future reference. None of the Chevrolet manuals show "replacement" engine stampings, so if that's really what it is, I wonder what the casting number of the block would be.

The "ID" wouldn't have been used in 66-68 since it was already being used on the 427/425. As Warren stated above, the factory wouldn't use the same stamping on two different engines. It would cause total havoc!!

But if it was used from 69 on, then getting the casting number and casting date from ascamaro would certainly confirm this.

But I don't think ascamaro is really interested in getting a real answer. He's posted his question on Team Camaro, Team Chevelle, and now on Team Impala (http://www.impalas.net/forums/showthread.php?t=921)!! I'm surprised he missed Team Nova!!

alright guys i have figured it out the engine code is stamped ID but the I is supposed to be a 1, and the D means its a 1962 283 impala engine.

BTW all you guys i appreciate the help but for all who wants to be disrespectful i still appreciate it. because its just material things and there are bigger fish to fry.

and yes i do have quite a few cars.

Thanks and have a Jesus filled day,

Yep. That's the one that shows the same code for the 1966 small block and the 1966 big block! I sure wish they would update that (and the nastyz28) site. It sure causes a lot of headaches!

But again, I would be very interested to see George's Motors manual. I have NO "replacement" engine codes, so it would really come in handy!

Well, looks like there is a small block with "ID" suffix code after all.
