I know this has been talked about, but ever since i met my friend with a turbo charged eagle talon, i've been interested in turbo's....a few years back i seen an article in either hot rod or chevy hiperformance that had a "sleeper" turbocharged car. the mild manners around town catch my attention. Does anyone know if someone makes a kit for a big block? Or does someone have a combo that you could share. i'm interested what a turbo could possibly do for my 65 chevelle. You can never have enough power :D i know all you purists would say forget about it, but i'm not going to have some 1.9 L. all wheel drive talon beating me to the finish line if i can help it. smile.gif

thanks
Josh

Gale Banks makes a complete dual turbo for the BBC. Very nice looking as well. You would be looking at over 6K for the whole thing.

Josh, I have done this to my 67,there is alot more to it than just buying a kit for the motor. I had to reconfigure my brake system, I had to move the engine forward 2" ,I had to install heavier springs in the front[ turbos add about 90# on each side], I had to add to drive shaft,Had to make all new brackets for gen, power steer,ac,, I don't wish to discourage any body ,it was alot of fun for me,I would do it again. Let me know if there is a question I will do my best to answer it.

Be careful what you wish for - have you thought about all the power that will make? - and all the ancillary components that will be needed to safely support that power? I did a 468 with a D2R ProCharger that made 951 hp and 863 tq at 17.1 psi through the carb. With the belt off the engine was ~ 480 hp, nothing wild. With a simularly sized turbo at the same boost psi you would be well beyond 1,000 hp.

Rather than move the engine forward, I would remove the inner fenders and work the exhaust around the steering shaft.

Have fun.

bomber, I moved the motor forward only to give more clearance for the brake master cyl, and to get a little heat relief at the fire wall. the plumbing of the exh/int was some what easy, however I did have to remove 1/2 the inner fenders. Also the clutch pivot had to be shifted along with modifying the oil pan. the radiator and the ac unit had to be installed on the front side of the header too. the battery went to the lower front rt side behind the bumper. as I said it took more than a year to sit down/ put it to paper, then to use.
