what determined what carb went on a 325 hp 4 speed holley or quadrajet.

I think it had more to do with smog control I believe, California with A.I.R pumps had quads where Kansas were more Holley's, and trans selections might of had something to do also.

I believe they were all Holleys , except for as Rock says... on Freemont built cars with A.I.R.

I think there were also a few other "Rochesters" produced... I think the "3-letter" suffix codes... AIR engines used different codes, so no need for the extra "H" or "R"... Don't have the info in front of me...

But yeah, mainly smog cars...
