Having a hard time finding a high press. '72 BB power steering hose. All the Chevelle vendors don't have it listed for this application. The only one they all list is for a '72 SB 350. My current hose as installed in the steering box, the hose lays horizontal & makes a 90 degree bend toward the engine & goes under & to the rear of the pump. The 350 hose they list when installed, the hose part goes up(vert.) & to the rear of the pump. The '70 hose is different too. Thanks for any inputs.

That is about how I am looking to run the hose on my '68 BB but I have metric O-ring ports. Nonetheless the same solution may apply just using some different adapters. What I am doing is converting this hose over to teflon lined steel braid. All the adapters and end fittings are available through Speedway motors for about $50.

Thanks Steve, I'll check it out. I like the lay down look. Dave

AN-6 and Aeroquip fittings. Although they are not listed as such on the Speedway Motors web/catalog.

For reference:

Adapters for the metric O-ring on steering box and PS pump:
16mm to AN-6 6174806
18mm to AN-6 6174808

If you instead have the old style tapered seat connections:
5/8"-18 to AN-6 6174802
11/16"-18 to AN-6 6174805

Note that using these AN adapters you could mix and match tapered seat connections on one end of the hose with metric O-ring on the other if need be.

Two 90* steel AN-6 hose ends:
6172042 (Aeroquip FBM1122)

Two feet AN-6 stainless braid TFE high pressure hose:
6173259

Note that Summit sells the same stuff except the hose is a minimum 3' length, and at about $7 a foot this makes the overall setup cheaper at Speedway Motors.

The hose routing I am using is from the high pressure port on the steering gear, run down the top of the steering gear curving around the pittman shaft boss on the housing. Then the hose will come back underneath the PS pump and curve up to the connection on the back. Many of the OEM setups used this routing with a retainer clip bolted on the front inside corner of the pittman shaft cover.
