Obviously, I’ve also added a new hood, and if you peek closely you can spot the electric cut-outs. Also recently added, but not visible: Flowmaster 3” exhaust (header to tailpipe) w/ Pypes 3” oval stainless tips, Hydratech Hydroboost.
Still in boxes in the garage: Classic Auto Air system, Alston/Chassisworks rear coilovers, Currie rear arms. After I get all the rest of my goodies in, I get to tear the car down to send her in for paint. Wish me luck!

live65 Mar 3rd, 08, 6:45 PM The car looks great! I'm curious how well it handles and rides now after the front suspension was redone. Is there a huge improvement in handling?
NelsonV Mar 3rd, 08, 7:05 PM Looking good! What color are you going with? I’m leaning to a Light Mint Green Metallic, perhaps pearl or candy. Black or Charcoal grey SS stripes.
The car looks great! I'm curious how well it handles and rides now after the front suspension was redone. Is there a huge improvement in handling? Well, I installed the new spindles, upper control arms and front brakes about two months ago (still with stock springs and shocks) and had the front end re-aligned. The new front geometry provided a HUGE improvement – minimal bumpsteer, great road feel. (Oh, I also added a Lee steering box about the same time).
But in the last couple weeks, I finished up the front with the new lower control arms and front coilovers and springs. Between the new LCAs and further lowering, my alignment is out of whack again. And with the now-stiffer front coupled with a bad alignment and the still-spongy rear, understeer is pretty noticeable and it doesn’t track correctly. After I wrap up the rear, I’ll have it re-aligned and I’m sure it’ll be even more of a blast.
jrb56 Mar 3rd, 08, 11:40 PM How much clearance do you have between the road and the headers...?
and the front wheels and the inner fenders?
Joe
rchevellea Mar 4th, 08, 3:10 PM wow that looks awesome and i ususally dont like convertables but yours is super nice!!!

JoeI'll get back to you on that. For now, in a nutshell, the headers/cutouts hit the LARGE speedbump at work and drag some driveways. The front tires to the inner fenders are close but do not rub through regular suspension travel; I have not yet experience irregular suspension travel with this setup (i.e. severe compression due to hittting a big bump fast).
Looking GREAT !
but you forgot to put the front springs in.This is the "Pro Touring" after all, isn't it? :D
It has 650lb/in springs and 1.25" coilover spacers now. With 575lb/in springs and no spacers, the fenders were literally sitting on the tires (though I may have had just a little more pre-load I could have adjusted in).
wow that looks awesome and i ususally dont like convertables but yours is super nice!!!Yeah, I love convertibles in general. But usually I prefer Chevelles' look as hardtops. Since I got stuckwith this convertible, it has grown on me. Go figure!

Sorry guys. I forgot about this thread.
I bought the Quick Time electric cutouts and generic cutout Y-pipes from Summit. The flange on the Y-pipe has two of its three holes vertically aligned. It would have been better if two holes were horizontally aligned; that’s the way the valves’ flanges are. So, now one of the bolt bosses hangs low. I’ll eventually hack the Y-pipe and re-clock the flange so that the electric valve doesn’t have to be cocked (see pic below).

Also, the electric cutouts came with a two-way, momentary switch on the end of its wire harness. I purchased the electronic controller, but that was about $125 and three weeks extra. I haven’t put it in yet; it’s supposed to have two memory preset positions. It's pretty plain looking, not very high tech. Molded plactic with a couple unlabelled buttons.

The electrics work pretty fast. And the mechanical assembly looks like it should be easy to adjust/rebuild if ever a leak occurs.
