: Cant remove plug !!!

I searched the forums but couldn't find an answer to this. I'm trying to hook up my line to my oil pressure gauge and I can't get the plug out above the filter. Tried heat and spraying with pB Blaster. I noticed another spot up on the back of the block on the driver's side. Right below the intake. It looks like it could be some sort of sending unit. Is this the idiot light location on a big block? Can I take it out and screw my fitting in there. I'm only planning on using the pressure gauge. The motor is a 1975 454.

There's nothing you can tap into on the back of a BB just below the intake.

I'll try and get a pic or take a quick vid of taking out a plug with pressure on the plug and impact next to it. I never have liked the head method, if it doesn't work it is usually stuck worse.

The other location you can tap into is one of the other galley plugs along the drivers side of the block, along the pan rail. Some factory later model pick-ups tap into the front one along the pan rail.

I think I see which one you mean. It's a small plug right above the front drivers side of the oilpan kinda below the power steering bracket. It's about 8 inches in front of the motor mount. Would this give a fairly accurate reading? I'm not racing the car, just local shows and cruisin around town.

There's one in line with each main, on the side of the pan rail, then at the very front of the block. This is the main oil feed for the mains so technically it should be the same. The one directly above the oil filter may read a few pounds more.

I took a few quick videos of taking oil galley plugs and soft plugs out and will post them later this afternoon in BBC info on the engine forum, it's stickied at the top. Can't do it here with my 26K dial up, would take 12 hours.
