Please setlle a debate between me and my brother. We're replacing the front end on the 66, and I told him to be sure the order a front spring cup for the front coils. He insisted that they're only on the rear, but whenever I was tearing them apart, I remember there being a rubber cup in the lower A-arm at the base of the spring. Who's crazy?

I have a 65 and the only rubber is on top of the rear coils.

70 and same deal. No isolators up front, just need to be sure they are seated in the pocket correctly.

Hmm, interesting. Where on earth did the previous owner get them from? They looked original, but I guess he added them. Is there any reason to do this?

I've seen it done either by mistake or in an attempt to fix ride height due to spring sag or coils being a bit short to begin with and that was a "fix"

Isolators on newer cars up front (my 00 300m has them) but havent seen them in person on any chevelles, as confirmed here.

71, no insulators up front.

Late model vehicles seem to have them (those I've worked on anyway). Heck my '97 S10 had them top and bottom on front springs.

I only noticed mine on the chrysler because I was doing the brake overhaul and saw the split pieces hanging out....not going to replace until I have to do the struts since it would all need to come apart anyway. I have them on all the new cars as well.
