: Dual Adjust shocks or not?

I wanna get some KYB Gas-Adjust shocks in. I have Bilsteins - nice and firm in the front, but too stiff in the rear. So - for those who use adjustables at all;

1) How does your variable shock feel compared to a non-adjustable - how do YOU set yours?
2) If Dual-adj, then how do you set the compression/release settings?

I'm just checking this to see if it varies that much - or do people tend to keep the rates similar? (If they do, I won't need to splurge for Dual-Adjust probably.)

I have never used the KYB double adjustable shocks, but we use a lot of the double adjustable VariShocks. (I have a set on my 70 Chevelle). Tuning them depends on the purpose of the vehicle. Handling, drag racing or ride quality?

The double adjustables have two knobs, one for compression and one for rebound. The are 16 clicks per knob. On my car, for a nice ride quality I normally run 2 clicks compression and 6 clicks rebound in the front. Keep in mind that I am running Shockwaves, which have a progressive spring rate. So with a linear spring rate coil spring you may need a little more compression. But you always need more rebound and less compression for a nice ride quality.

Now if I wanted to drag race I would bump up the compression quite a bit and turn the rebound down all the way to help weight transfer.

When hitting the curves I would add about 4-5 clicks on both compression and rebound. It doesn't ride as good but greatly reduces the body roll.

Double adjustable are the way to go when building a mulipurpose vehicle, single adjustable just don't offer enough versatility. For a cruiser tho..... the single adjustables would be fine.

VERY helpful, man. Thanks for that. Makes sense. Most of mine will be handling, a bit of ride. But I love the idea of adjustable for varying trips...

I just bought a pair of Varishocks (single adj). I can't comment about the ride until hopefully late April:mad:

I have taken advice from many posts here and at pro-touring.com, and that is buy the best shock you can afford. In my case, it was the shock I mentioned above, and only bought a pair for the front for now.
