Power Valve shot? Carb is an Edelbrock 750cfm - similar to carb ... any suggestions or fix-its?
Just bought the car, when I lay into it from any speed, it falls flat (bogs/pauses) and then pulls good... graemlins/angry.gif

There is no power valve in the Edelbrock, but there is a power enrichment circuit which consists of spring loaded needle valves. They are held closed under high vacuum, such as idle and cruising, but use springs to push them open at low vacuum, as in full throttle. These springs can be changed to fine tune the carb to your application. The recalibration kit is available through Summit or Jegs, and should have instructions and tips on how to tune. Also, check the pumper on the carb to be sure you're getting a full, solid squirt. After the engine has been shut down for more than an hour or so, open the choke and while looking down the throttle bores(engine off), quickly crack open the throttle. You should see a solid squirt of fuel from the two squirters. If it doesn't squirt, or takes a couple of pumps, you may have either a bad check valve, or a bad pumper(piston). These both come in a rebuild kit.
Hope this helps. Steve
