Here are some photos from today. This was a fire the engine, fill the transmission, look for leaks, day.
The engine fired and sounds good.... the transmission took all the oil and had no leaks!, the gear vendor took fluid also.... the power steering hose leaks a little and hopefully I have fixed that.

Nice looking chassis there Mike. What finish did you use?

The frame is powdercoated... as is the differential and springs and everything else. I figure that this is the only one I'll do so I would go 'all out' for my wife.... she has claimed the car. The 'gloss' is a 60%.

And Old...... I would have but I got all that stuff on it!

I have the rear end up on stands so tomorrow nite I'll have the 'special oil' in the posi 3.73 and run her in for a bit. I'll be glad to get the body back on and start on the hard stuff......

And thanks for the kind words.

Very nice work Mike. It's motivating! You are raising the bar up there. I'll try to catch up in the spring.

Oh yeah.... I started it up last night and, with the rear axle up on stands, I ran it throught the gears (well - 2 on the powerglide) and took it to about 2400 RPM. It ran fine and makes the time spent seem like it was worth it.

Still, it remains a bodyless chassis.

Nice, was at that stage a few weeks ago myself, youll really get excited once the body is back on.

How did you fire it up without a wiring harness, Id love to rig somethign up to start mine myself. (I have no harness or wiring yet).

I ran a hot wire to the HEI, and ground cable to the battery, hot from the starter to the F*** starter relay - then from the Fo** relay to the battery. Jump the relay and away she goes. I have a 'cheap' oil pressure gauge at the rear of the block to check pressure.
