I have a bunch of blue files in the XP Pro windows folder.
What are they for and can I delete them?

The name indicates that they are probably left over uninstall files, probably from programs that were on the computer and then uninstalled. They might be just left over trash that the operating system didn't clean up, or they could be something it needs to know what uninstalled programs are now gone.

Note the file names/numbers - those are Microsoft update uninstall files.
Do a Google search for the file name- ie:
KB927779 = http://support.microsoft.com/kb/927779
The KB was the give away as it means Knowledge Base.
Don't delete these unless your sure you don't need to uninstall the Windows Update.

You can uninstall an update, Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs. Those files tell Windows what files where added or replaced.

You got it :)
Thanks, I figure out I had my folder options set to view hidden files.
They're gone now.

Good idea to hide system files. Not sure when/if it'd ever be safe to uninstall a Windows update - later updates may be dependant on the one you think you need to uninstall, particularly security items. :D
