I am in the market to replace the Hooker Supercomp headers in my 70 w/454. (last replaced in 1985 and have fair amount of damage to right collector etc...)
Would it behoove me to purchase the headers with coating or have them sent out to be coated from a n outside source such as JetHot etc...?

I guess its all in what you can afford. I am happy with my Dynomax coated headers, had to be dinged for the lower A arm and Brake distribution block on the drivers side, pass. side falls in and out even with the kick out pan. Others will say its best to mount the uncoated headers, ding them where they need dinged, then send them out to be coated. If I can get another couple years out of my Dynomax headers I'd feel like I got my moneys worth.

I have been out of the loop for a awhile and know that I will ultimately want them coated. (they are coated now, as when I orignally purchased them coating was not an option from Hooker) So I sent them out after the fact. --
So I am looking at cost vs. who has a better coating? Do the ones that Hooker sells come coated on the inside as well?

I just got my Lemons headers back from AirBorn done in their Oklahoma City shop. They did very nice work, coating is nice and shiny and they are coated on the inside as well.

Don't have an opinion on timing of coating, but I can tell you I just installed a set of Hedman Elites (coated) on my '70 402. They went in great with no dinging, and no repositioning anything. They look and work great!
