Just put in the new sound deadener and carpet in my 72 chevelle. Now how do I find the seat belt holes and seat holes? And whats a good way to get the bolts threw the carpet?
Thanks guys,

Sorry I don't have a real answer for you but I usually screw a piece of threaded rod in the holes and remove it once the carpets in. And then your holes are there. If you didn't glue your carpet this is still possible for you to do.

Some of the seat belt holes you can push an ice pick or something similar thru from the bottom. The ones by the door you should be able to find just lifting the carpet up. Or just probe with the ice pick.

After I install new carpet or sound deadener, I push an awl or a phillips screwdriver from under the car to help locate the seat belt holes.

For what it's worth now.
What I do on any carpet that I install is take all your seat and seat belt bolts and thread them in a few threads by hand, and when you are done with the carpet all you have to do is feel for the bolt head's.And as far as getting them through the carpet and padding,I just take a razor blode or a utility knife and cut a X on the top on the bolt head and push the carpet over.

To get through the carpet I get a 1/2 " punch heat it up red hot with a torch and burn a hole. the carpet around the hole will melt and never fray.
