Does anybody know where Matco Die Grinders are made?

I'm looking for a new one (well-ebay). Dotco and Snap-on are US made but pretty pricey. Matco and Mac seem to be a little less but I want a US made tool.

Suggestions?

Thanks Guys. :)

I don't know where they are made but Matco is good stuff. I have a ball joint removal kit from them that is high grade.

Dotco, real pricey but will last your life time unless you super abuse it. They use them in aircraft plants. Excellant tools.

I have a Dotco that my dad bought around 1955. It still works as good as it ever did. It will last you forever if you take care of it!

I L-O-V-E my Mac 1/2 horsepower die grinder. Made in USA, but it is an older model--I bought it about 8--10 years ago.

I have an Air Cat 1/2" drive impact wrench that works great!!! I haven't found a bolt/nut it wouldn't loosen yet. I'm not a full time mechanic so I'm not sure of it's durability but it seems to be A-one! Got it from Northern Tool.

I have one like shown near the bottom of this page, the 1404BG

FWIW I have a new IR DA sander that is made in China. I think IR is who makes Matco stuff.

Check out National Detroit. I know they make DAs but not sure about die grinders. Also look at Chicago Pneumatic.

I have a Makita electric die grinder that I got to replace my Craftsman when it died after 20 years.

Works great. I got it at Mytoolstore.com, if I remember correctly.

Don't know where its made.

Check out Dynabrade. They are made in the USA and it's top quality stuff but your wallet will take quite a hit. I haven't tried their die grinders but I've used their belt grinders and D/A sanders and they are very nice tools.

For what its worth it does not matter what brand you buy.If you fail to keep it lubed its going to fail.I have and continue to use a $22.00 Harbor Freight 90 degree and straight die grinder daily where I work for the past 10 years.I lube them everyday before I start to use them and keep them as clean as I can.A couple of drops of good air motor oil is all it takes.I have seen IR,CP,Dotco, you pick the name run the same, but fail to lube them and they will fail.It all depends on how much you want to spend.Just my.02
