Where is the part number stamped on TRW pistons? It's probably not in the top surface of the piston is it? I expect it's undernieth on the skirt or something where I can't get to it with the motor in the car.

Bought my motor assembled with no specs at all. I need to figure out the compression ratio. I didn't see a part number when I had the pan off before I installed the motor and was too eager to get it in to worry about finding it. :(

Can one measure the cc of the dome if you pull the head and leave the piston in the motor?

trw's are on the face of the piston. At least the ones i've had/seen.

Mine are also right on top. So with the heads off you should be able to see it. May have to clean top up but it,s there. graemlins/thumbsup.gif .

Tim, Click on my link of in my signature "rate my car" and go to page two. At the end of the page is my head swap. You can click enlarge to see the zooms of my swap. I have TRW pistons and you can clearly see whee they are stamped TRW .060, and L2311. Do you have alot of carbon that the part number is hidden? It would take a severe amount. I'm guessing maybe they are covered or you dont have TRW pistons. Good luck

how dirty are the top of the pistons? you might have to clean them with carb cleaner to see. do you know if they are forged or cast? you could see how high the domes are to get a rough idea. mike

I'm trying to lessen the amount of exploratory work I'll have to do with this motor. I want to recam it and get the compression around 10:1 (hopefully using the current pistons). I don't want to have to pull apart the bottom end if possible. They are definatly TRW pistons. before I installed the motor I had to put on a Chevelle oil pan and saw the TRW marking then.

I haven't gotten started on this so the heads are still on. I just wanted to know if pulling them would get me the part number or if I was going to have to pull the motor out of the car and look under the pan.

Thank you, all. Gave me good news. smile.gif
