Hello! This is my first winter with my 69 Chevelle SS. I winterized it, not doing much, fresh oil, Sta-bil in the gas and disconnect the battery. When the time comes to start it again it will be 4 months.
Looking for any tips/advice on properly preparing for this first time startup in the cold. Want to be sure engine parts are properly protected.

I just fire mine right up. It may take a few more seconds that normal. Make sure the battery is charged.

Others might disagree with my methods but what I do is change the oil + filter charge the battery get in the car pump it and turn the key. :D:)

Check the oil, pull out the hand choke, pump it a couple of times and turn the key is ALL I have ever done.

I fill the float bowl with two stroke gas-oil mix and fire it up. At least the dry upper cylinders get a little protection at startup. I've disassembled engines that have sat for a long time. The bearings still had oil on them but the cylinder walls were dry. Seems to work for me.

I forgot to mention that I fog my motor before storage. The upper part of the motor should have some lube.

Connect the battery, jump in pump the gas, go for a long drive then change the oil.
