Jim I did mine myself I just took it apart and used vinegar and baking soda on the parts and for the cap I polished it just a little. Worked fine for me. When I started my engine up for the first time on points it fired right up for me.

How do you get the metal locks out? Do you just bend them straight? Might they break? On the window, do you just bend that and slip it out the top? Again on bending the window might that break?

What did you treat the metal with, so it won't rust? This is an origianl cap "Delco Remy Patent Pending" With no "R" and I don't want to mess it up.

Its was a long time that I did mine so I cant remember how I did it exactly, but I am about to do another one for my car for a extra cap. Both of my caps have the "R" on them.
