: Is this master cylinder toast?

I have about 100 miles on a master cylinder that I bought about 2 years ago. I recently pulled it off to install a set of headers and found about a teaspoon of dark brake fluid pooled in the little rubber cup that seals the power booster (goes between the master cylinder and booster). I don't think any fluid got inside of the booster, but I am disturbed by this. Do I need a new master cylinder? If so, from what cars can I get a late model aluminum master cyclinder? Thanks

Forgot this info: The car is a 67 Malibu with disks in front, drums in back.

Were you already using the AL cyllander??
Sounds like the rear seal on the master is FUBAR. Any of the 80's cars would have the right unit. Do you have a seperate proportioning valve ? Some of the newer cars had intergral MC/PV units. The rebuild MC for my 73 was $15 for a lifetime warr rebuilt. not worth getting from Junkyard
