Having trouble mounting my remote canister. I have installed a bb in my 66 post car and I'm having a devil of a time trying to figure out how to mount the bracket for the remote canister. Can anyone tell me or maybe send me a picture of their car. Going nuts here. Thanks

I assume you mean the P/S reservoir? Maybe like this ...

Dave, your reservoir looks like a 68 with the long mount that attaches directly to the core support. 66 and 67 have a short mount that attaches to a bracket between the fender and core support. 66 and 67 brackets are also different. You or a previous owner must have added this reservoir to your car.
copoguy69, I have photos of the different assemblies at home and can attach those later. The 66 assembly manual has a good illustration of the proper mounting location and hardware. I could scan that and email it if you don't already have it.

Dave has it mounted in about the right place, but he is missing the bracket that mounts to the reservoir and goes from the bolt on the fender to core support to 2 holes you need to drill in the core support. All of the restorations houses carry this bracket It's around $20.

Really?! Huh. It's been exactly like that for the almost 29 years I've owned the car. I guess I'll have to check this out. That's annoying. :(

copoguy,
Here is a photo of the reservoirs and brackets used from 66 to 68 (L to R). TW is correct about the mounting positions. The top of the bracket mounts to the bolt (attaching the core support to the fender) and the bottom two holes should be in about the same position as where Dave's reservoir are attached. The assembly manual reads, ".196/.199 DIA 2 HOLES IN RADIATOR SUPPORT THRU EXISTING DIMPLES". So if your core support has not been previously drilled, you should find two dimples to locate where to drill the holes. The bracket you should have for a 66 should look the one on the left reservoir.

Dave, my recollection of the mounting arm lengths was mistaken, the 66 uses the longer one like yours. So it appears that you are just missing the bracket. The short arms measure 1 inch, the 66 is about twice as long.

Thanks Bruce,
I guess I'll have to get me one of them there brackets. :D
It doesn't really need it, the reservoir's sturdy as heck on there as-is. I guess, in the interest of "correctness" ...
