: I have seen the '09 Camaro

Went to the car show last night. This car has the most appealing body lines, and looks of raw power than any car there. Even the Mopar guys were impressed by it. Old muscle, meets modern technology to deliver a product that I can say is truly a work of art. The only thing better would have been to see a Chevelle emblem on the trunk, instead of Camaro:thumbsup:

What? This can't be, everybody on this site knows GM couldn't possibly produce anything that is appealing. Do some searches here, that is the ugliest car ever produced!!!

Glad to hear somebody liked the car as much as I do, I think it is an excellent example of retro styling cues with a modern flair, without just straight up ripping off a 40 year old design.

Is this the production version you were looking at or is the pre-production version still being shown?

Wonder if I could adapt that to, uh...:D

The car shown was not the production car. These numbers are not solid, but are meant to be a guideline only.
The base model V6 is to start at $21,600
The SS option is to be $28,500 - $41,000 depending on options, which will include 420 hp 6.0 liter, six speed manual transmission.
Limited production Z28 $39,000-$44,000
The 2009 Camaro, the revolution has begun.;)

I don't buy new cars anyway. I won't one in 2012. I can wait and any bugs will be worked out by then also. I couldn't afford my 70 when it came out either.

If GM can actually come out with a base Camaro for under $22K, they should be in good shape to sell quite a few. Hard to believe when you see what the Solstice prices were when they came out.

I like the seatbelts! :D

I kid, I kid. ;)

I think I'll have to pass judgment 'til I see one in person. I can't really make a good assessment from 2D pics; 3D up close is the only way, IMHO, to look at a car. Or a woman, for that matter. :D

Most likely. At the unveiling of the Camaro back in 05 at the detroit auto show, Bob Lutz said already back then all the trick billet aluminum will not make it to the production car, that it was show car only.

Oil at a record high, dollar at a record low, gas prices heading up to $4 and the economy in (or about to be in) a recession, I hope they make it a hybrid that I can plug in next to my toaster. :p

Those are probably the best looking pair of seat belts I have ever seen. GMPP should sell these (although expensive albeit).

I think thats what the new Corvette ZR1 is for. Would take that over a mustang any day of the week.

But it was always the pony car war in the past. Corvette is suppose to take care of the Viper. Whatca think?

Good point....A camaro SS with the ZR1 engine and 6 speed would be even better then :).

P.S. Guess the Corvette did take care of the Viper since its going out of production.

I wouldn't be surprised if they do it. At 620 horses see ya Shelby...........in the rear view that is. Back to the pony wars! ;)

i heard rumors of there being issues with the rear end of the new camaro, that it would be the same design as the last generation before the short hiatus. something about not being up to snuff in terms of strength. any confirmation on this?

Agreed. I dig the car but its going to be a hard sell....but, hey, we're americans so we'll just buy more than we can afford, figure out some kind of loan scheme, default on school loans and CC payments so's we can roll it. :D

I think its a great ride, I like it....but pi$$ poor timing and overhead of most folks along with the price (I mean, c'mon, who the HELL buys these cars and mustangs with a V6 other than parents sending their daughters off to college or buying for their wife) are gonna make it a rough road, IMO.

60 K for the Caddy, more for the Vette, 45 for this car......leaves the little tuners for those of us that cant swing it since the GTO is done for. The only thing I can hope for is that people start turning in 05 CTSv's, GTO's, etc to snatch these up and I could score a deal on one in a private sale. Throw a turbo on it and walk on these cars for half the cost.

So I enjoy seeing them, I encourage GM but for other reasons - I want the cars that the rich(er) folks turn over in good shape to get the latest and greatest.

This would make an awesome electric hybrid Chevelle (like the volt). Good chance for GM to give Toyota the finger.
