I was backing my Blazer off the trailer and noticed that it was slipping really bad in reverse and chattering too. I just ran it all weekend at the sand races prior to it sittting on the trailer for a couple of weeks. Any ideas? The fluid doesn't smell burnt and the level was pretty good.

Trans has a manual valvebody and trans brake. I did notice that is was creeping when I used the brake at the races. I don't know if this would be related to my problem?

How's your 2-3 shift?

What does it do in first? I think it may be related to the trans brake solenoid. If I remember correctly in a t-400 the trans brake uses reverse also. I had mine that when I put it in first it would chatter because the brake was partially engaged.

It was fine before I loaded it up after the races. I have not driven it since noticing the problem when taking it off the trailer.

First gear works fine. It does creep though when applying the transbrake.
I wonder if I should take the solenoid out and inspect it?

You can check the solenoid, make sure the plunger is moving freely.

If that's ok here's a few thing you can check next:

1. linkage

2. filter, make sure it hasn't fallen off the pick up tube.
Remove filter check pick up tube for cracks also make sure it's double
o-ringed.

3. servo, see if it's broken or if the little c-clip is broken off the apply pin.

The next two involves pulling the unit.

4. reverse band went bad

5.direct clutches went bad.

Thanks for the help. Knowing my luck, its number 4 or 5...
