Got the pedal kit in the mail today. i was expecting the same ones smittie got (pic below), fully welded and unpainted. but to my suprise they came painted!!! but they didnt come fully welded. they sent me the good `ol off shore look-a-likes. i called them and they didnt have any more on the shelf to compare them to, but they didnt understand what i was talking about. he did say that the gm's come unpainted, so it makes me think they ran out of the others and used these as a filler. they match the ones they show on the site, but not the ones ive seen everybody getting. so, im sending them back and will rebuy when they get the new ones in, if they ever do.

The pedal set I got with my kit from Classic didn't look like the pic I remember seeing of the Keiseler stuff. Someone in that thread was complaining about the clutch rod plate braking off, but I don't recall if that was a Classic set up. In any case, I welded my clutch rod plate on a little better, and I think I am good to go. I never expected it to be concours anyway, heck, I just hacked a big hole out of my trans tunnel. But the pedals sure fit nicely, I was pleasantly surprised. Oh, yeah, my pedal plates have two deep ridges embossed in them so they don't taco around the bottom of the lever. Those flat pedal plates on your pic look like that could be an issue.

Good luck!

Did they appear to be Chinese made crap?

the quality looks decent, but the clutch bracket is only being held on by 3 plug welds, the same as all the chinese stuff. makes me think they are the same. and for $200, i really expected to get something different than opg sells for half the price. they responded to my email and said that the ones they offer in their kits come from a different vendor than just the pedals. i just dont understand why you would have 2 vendors for the same product and they are sooooo much different. im going to see if they can just sell me the pedals out of the kit by themselves. still waiting to hear back.

The original clutch pedal on my 70 Elcamino was broken and re-welded. I bought a repop that looked exactly like the one in your pic. I painted it then went to install it only to find out that the groove for the retainer clip was too small. Also the factory pedal pads wouldn't fit correctly. I ended up selling it and buying a good used one. I would send the one you have pictured back.

430 HP, check this site out. I bought a rebuilt and painted Original set from Him and it is Like New.
Look how he rebuilds the Muncies with that unmistakeable detail he does.
Right now I see he has a Clutch and brake set for a 68 to 72 GTO which will fit a Chevelle 68-72.
He is also a memeber of TC

I should stop selling transmissions and start selling the conversion kits:yes::yes:

Maybe I should do both, kind of one stop shopping. Then I could and in flywheels, clutches etc:yes::yes::yes:

Tim,

Maybe they dumped the vendor that supplied my pedals, as I stated towards the end of the original post they did have some missing clips and the brake pedal required filing at the top. http://www.chevelles.com/forums/showthread.php?t=209725&page=2
Overall, they are very strong so you must have received something else. I apologize for giving the info that led to a bad purchase but it was factual at the time. I feel bad about that, I guess you just never know .

I have the number somewhere for the guy I talked with on the phone, PM me for the info.

not your fault smittie. i just assumed that they made their own kits and they sold the pedals both in a kit and by themselves. i just dont understand why they would have two vendors.

Just a heads up that the GTO and Chevelle pedals are shaped the same but how they attach to the carrier is different. Chevelle's have the rod attached to the clutch pedals that goes thru the brake pedal and is held on by a clip. GTO's use a bolt to hold them on. The reason that is important is the hole in the GTO carrier is much smaller so if u buy Chevelle pedals and try to use them on GTO carrier it taint gonna work. However if u buy a complete set they will interchange.
