I got these pics from another board I am on, but I know you guys would probably love to see them too.

These are pics from SEMA. I looked on the M/T website, but they dont have any info about them available yet... so no guarantees...but...

Mickey Thompson's New Drag Radial made an appearance this week at the SEMA show. Special thanks to Henry D for the pics. Henry's car is the car in the pics featured. No updates on sizes yet.

Think they can get the bite of BFG Drags and the life of Nitto 555 Drags combined into one tire?

EDIT: This definately belongs in the Wheel/Tire forum. Sorry :(

Definitely more rubber on those tires compared to the BFG's or Nittos. I assume M/T probably went to a softer compound than the BFGs, so I bet they hook the best out of the 3. However almost surely they'd be worse on the street, and more wear. Looks good to me graemlins/thumbsup.gif

If those will work on the street and hook hard on the track I would love to see what pricing and sizes will be. I really would like to run a radial rather than a bias ply like an E-T street.

Digging up an old thread.

10 months later and I am shopping for a drag radial, has anyone run these yet? I was looking at BFG's Drag radial, but I wondered if these were better?

The size I was looking for (in both brands) is 235/60/15. Its for my V8 280z car.

Thanks guys!!

i've got a buddy who is running the M/T DR's on his 67 Camaro. with stock style suspension front and rear he has gone a 1.47 60ft on a 275/60 tire, but man do they wear quickly. if you're looking to race on a radial, they're the ticket, if you do alot of street driving, better go with the BFG's.

Thanks for the reply. They sure sound sticky.

Luckly if I buy them I will have a regular set of street tires for driving around town. But I might race in a drag radial class next season, which is why I asked. Then again, I might just get lazy and run a slick and just run in bracket class.

Who know, but I have 4-5 months to think about it too.

I put a set of the 295's on my 71 Chevelle recently. The ride is much smoother than the old M/T Sportsmans. Had an "opportunity" leaving a car show Saturday to put them to the test on the street. They actually stuck well and that was with no burnout. Wish I had ordered the next larger size, cause the 295's look kind of skinny on the car.

As said before (my friend is on his second set) they wear VERY quickly. They stick great but you need to buy stock in the company if everyone keeps buying them.

Tough to beat 132.99 for 275/60/15 BFG's at WalMart. I bracket race on them, used them last year til they wore out, switched to M/T e.t.drags and now back to BFG's, more consistent on my car than the slicks, but I'm going back to Hoosier slicks when these drag radials wear out. We have 4 points races left 6 races total,I think the BFG's will last that long.

I went 1.37 60 on a 10.06@129 in my 68 nova on 275/60-15 MT drag raidal leaving at 3800 off trans brake with 150 shot of nitrous (pump gas) on t-brake release with front end 2 ft in the air...they worked good that day (did this 2 times before leaving). Then at the Edelbrock Pro race the next week end could not get any better than 1.5x out of them...?? Had to switch to slicks that day...

Wayne, I was wondering how those M/T's were handling the 540 monster. Do they look good? Do radials and bias ply tires smell the same when you're cookin' 'em? :D

BTW, April and I should be back down there sometime in January. We'll be putting a deposit down on an apartment...or at least that's the plan. We'll have to get together one day. How's the weather down there that time of year?

We are leaving here at the end of February and I want all the living arrangements taken care of when I bring all of our stuff down.

Hi Justin,

I can't tell you how the M/T radials smell as I have not done a burnout with them. I basically wasted a set of BFG radials doing burnouts, so at almost $200 a tire, I need to take it easy on the M/T's. They are a good looking tire, but I need to get the 315 60's for the extra width.

The weather in January is normally mild, but I have seen snow on rare occasions.

So what is the retail price on these compared to the BFG's? Where are folks buying them?

Not all Walmarts offer BFG Drag Radials...I believe it's a regional thing. :(

Did you ask if they would order them in Bill? One Walmart had 4 sets in the rack. The other Walmart ordered them in for me,2-3 days was all it took.

No Robert, I was just assuming because there were NO BFG tires of any type or size stocked in this store.
It is a new "Super" Walmart, 3 months old, and I guess BFG's are not offered.
I've even gone online and looked. Stock there is based on what zipcode in entered...only Goodyear and Michelins for us, I guess.

I thought Michelin has been producing BF Goodrich tires since 1986. You might want to tell the WalMart person that.
