What makes an engine rev higher than another. Some can get above 7000 RPM.
And i sometimes hear, "Yeah those engines (427) they love to rev."
I guess my question is actually what allows an engine to reach high RPMs?

big bore short stroke..strong light weight rotaing assembly..good breathing heads..high compression..a cam with a lot of duration..good valve springs..light valves and retainers..big carb..good fuel supply..good ignition..just to list a few items

generally, the short stroke allows the engine to rev high, the piston has to move less for the crank to rotate. and then you have the strong valve springs that keeps the valves from floating... thats just the general though

Properly designed and matched valvetrain components and a well balanced rotating assembly.
