I do not know for sure as I don't have my code books in front of me. It looks like a late 70 or early 71. The web date is July 7 1970. Up through the 69 year (on Camaros of which I am most familiar with) the tube stamping contained two letters to determine the gears being used. In 1970 they changed the codes to three letters, therefore the RCV is the original axle gearing code, of which I do not know what gearing that would have been.

CRV is the format used in 1970 for the 3.31 positraction. RVC is the format used in 71 and 72 for the 3.31 positraction. In 70 the date code would be 4 digits; first 2 the month and the second 2 the day of month. In 1971 and 72 the format changed to a 3 digit date indicating the day of the year. 209 = 209th day of the calendar year. B = assy plant = Buffalo. G70 = July 7, 1970

So, RVC 209 B is a 3.31 posi assembled in Buffalo on the 209th day of the calendar year 1970 for the 1971 model year. The 209th day would be later in July after July 7 when the housing was cast.

1970 production ended in July 1970 and 1971 production started in August 1970. The rear end most likely would have originally been installed in a very early 1971 SS 454 Chevelle.
