I've got a 67 with 327, 4 spd and 3.73 gears. The engine has a performer rpm intake, 30 overbore,1.625 headers, unknown aftermarket cam, roller rockers, only likes premium gas. Some evening guess I need to pull the heads and figure out whats actually inside:D
What I'm after is replacing the q-jet and spacer to try and fit a different air breather under the hood and toss the wire mesh foam triangle job away.
Would a Holley street avenger 670 be a good choice ? would like to go to a electric choke. any suggestions ? since it's just a toy to take the wifey out riding in and stuff like that should I dump the performer rpm ?

A Holley 650, vacuum secondary would probably be a good choice...
Another option to consider is an Edelbrock Performer. For street use, there will be little to no diffeence in performance between the Edelbrock and the Holley... Holleys are definitely better for all out racing (better tunability for maximum performance) and okay for the street, while Edelbrocks tend to be a little better for overall driveability, economy, ease of operation/installation and basic tuning)...
Performance in a street car, even at the race track (street car with mild performance, limited traction, etc), there will be little difference in performance.
For "budget" considerations, Edelbrocks also tend to be a little less expensive too...
I have personally swapped several cars from Holleys to Edelbrocks (and I drove, tuned and raced Holleys for years), and not only gained "driveability and mileage, but actually increased performance. These were all cars that saw the track maybe a few times a year, but mainly just cruised around from stop light to stop light... On the track, or for a "correct" resto or cleaning up a used budget carb I'd go Holley, but for a new carb with good performance, for mostly street fun, I'd go Edelbrock...

the holley 1850 (600cfm) would be perfect .The 670 avenger is also a good choice!

SA 670 with electric choke is perfect for what you want.
