Where can I get the correct moulding clips for the front windshield of my 66. I ordered a set from one of the restoration sites and appearently I recieved the wrong ones. When I tried to install the trim today, I noticed that the trim is sitting below the body. I found one of the old clips and there is about a 1/16" of an inch difference.

Keep in mind that some of these clips are the screw-on type that can be adjusted up and down to make corrections for the depth of the moulding. If this is the type you have than you may just need to raise the clips in the channel.

The clips I got are for the studs.

Did you install your windshield with urethane or butyl tape? What I am getting at is this; are your sure the windshield is set at the correct depth?

Exactly what I was thinking...should use 5/16" butyl tape.

I believe that it`s 3/8 butyl or 5/16 butyl and on the 66 windshield it should be 3/8. You could also have the wrong clips. :D

Tommy...you're right. :o We used 5/16" on my wagon.
I made a typo.
Too early in the morning, I guess.

The correct clips will measure 5/8 " top to bottom. One of the new GM clips is about 1 1/4" long and slide on the stud sideways to lock it on. GM # 4533698 and GM 7698976 will work. Also available under AU-VE-CO # 8583 and 9633. This is an automotive supplier of fastners, screws, clips, rubber bushing, glass supplies, lots of hard to find stuff for cars. Thanks for the input guys. I did use the butyl tape to install both front and back glass. I ended up finding the clips at a auto glass installation shop. The guy ended up giving me the clips free of charge. I guess there are still a few good people left in this world.
