Hello all, I hope you can tolerate another primer-sanding question. I have 2k primer that was guide coated and blocked with 220, then guide coated and reblocked with 400. I would like to sand again with 600. Is guide coating recommended for this final sanding stage? Thanks, Jerry

Every time you sand to another grit you should always guide coat, we guide coat the palstic, the spray poly and all the 2K priming. Good luck.

Its personal preferance... I dont guide coat anything...

I find that after you are in 320 git and finer you can wipe the car down with a wax and grease remover. this will make the panel shine. Then take a pen and mark the side of the car where ever you see darts or wavs block more in these ares, these minor fluctuations will never be detected with a guidecoat.

This is in 400 grit wet down with wax an grease remover.

Through years(23) of trial and error I use a system that works the best for me. I guide coat after priming and block with 180 dry on a long board. After this is where the differences happen, I guide coat and knock down the 180 scratches with 500 for solid colors or 600 for everything else using a small hand block. I found that when I would block w/ 220 or 320 between I would get small waves in the finished product. The less you sand after the 180(after taking out the 180 scratch) the flatter it will be.
