Well I just returned from a 850 mile car parts road trip. Myself, my son Anthony and my brother Rick headed out Friday afternoon for a world-wind car parts excursion. We left NC to drive down to GA to pick up some car parts.

My son was buying a 5.0 from a guy from the Corral forum. (Sorry for the F**d stuff) and visit a girlfriend while we were in GA (oh to be young again) LOL

I was picking up a 350 roller block and crank from Mike Newby aka Georgia69
(Thanks Mike, is was great meeting you!!!! Great looking 69 Chevelle)

Then we went to Bill Burkes aka BillsCamino to pick up a set of heads for my brother's Pick up truck
I bought the heads for my brother as it is his 50th birthday next month!!!
(Thanks Bill, it was great seeing you again!!! The wagon and the sports coupe look great)

You may ask, why drive all that way just for some old parts?, couldn't I find them locally?
Yeah most likely I could, but what fun would that be??? For some reason I trust these people that you get to know through the forums, they are like a big extended family linked together by a common passion.

Plus the time the 3 of spent together in a old Chevy van flying down the highway at just a little over the speed limit :D. A van that I bought and the 3 of us put together with junkyard parts just a few months ago.

Did I really save any money???? Who cares??? the time with my Family and friends, the stories we get to tell and the memories that we get to make and share makes it all worth it!!! Whatever I spent this weekend, I would do all over again in a heartbeat!!!

I just thought I'd share this with all of you and to encourage everyone to forget about everyday troubles and enjoy what is truly important.....your Family and Friends !!!!

I love road trips. Especially when they involve treasure hunting. :)

For years our family vacations have been snowmobiling trips... which involved usually a 6 hr drive up and back... and for some of the trips, hooking up with other friends that enjoyed the sport as well..it's just good friends and good times.
This winter I sold all our sleds and trailer...:( so I'll be trying to start planning our vacations around Chevelle events... ya know, maybe a vacation to Niagra Falls, one to Sturbridge Village, and maybe even Chesapeake Bay....:D
But really.... we spend time together driving to the locations and hanging around the cars and bull*****ting ..., my two boys enjoy it and I have a wonderful wife that enjoys anything that involves the family being together.:thumbsup::beers:

Bill,

It was nice to meet you and your brother, and I hope that 350 block/crank makes a good engine. Glad it went to a good home :)
