This one has me completely stumped. My car has been sitting for about 2 months. The motor has like 2 miles on it ...the last time it ran was pretty much just the cam break-in, a few carb and timing tweeks, set the valve lash, and I drove it down the road a few times. Since then its been sitting.

Anyway, I go to fire it up today and it would barely run. It'd barely start and if you touched the gas the motor wouldnt rev it would just sputter and spit out of the carb then stall. I look over the motor, make sure all vacuum lines are hooked up, check the plugs, wires and firing order. I thought it might be the timing but no matter what it does the same thing...

Heres where it gets confusing... I'm looking around the carb and notice there is fuel leaking from the ends of the throttle shaft. By the way, this is a brand new 750 Speed Demon. It has never been run on my motor before but a month ago I put it on a friends car just to see if it'd work (since my car was apart). It ran perfectly fine no leaks or anything on his motor. So, I take the Demon off and the carb-to-intake gasket is all wet with fuel and theres lots of fuel in the intake itself. So, I pull out my trusty old 750 Holley that I used to break in the motor with thinking the Demon is junk. I put a new gasket down and bolt it to the intake. Fire the motor up, SAME THING! motor seems like its flooding out AND the throttle shaft is wet on this carb too!

The fuel pressure is at 5PSI and the floats are right where they should be and don't overflow when you turn the pump on. No visible fuel is dripping from the carb into the intake with the fuel pump on and the motor off. I'm completely stumped by this. Anyone have any clue? I took some pictures of where its leaking from..

Note thats the passenger side of the carbs, fuel is also leaking on the other end of the shaft where the carb linkage is.

Sorry for the long confusing story my mind is kinda going nutty over this...

Thanks,
Chris

The gas coming from the throttle blades is just because the engine is not using the fuel that you are supplying to the engine. It almost sounds like timing, did you put on a new timing chain on when you redid the engine? If you did I would replace the plugs just to be sure there not fouled out. graemlins/waving.gif

I had a similar problem I drained the gas, put in new gas and new plugs, started it and in ran fine.
