Project SS Chevelle, The Creation Of A Quick 8 Car From Start To Finish Click Here and Enjoy The Build Up, Part Two Coming Soon !! (http://www.goDragRacing.com) graemlins/beers.gif

There’s something about the 70 SS Chevelle that exhibits Pure American Muscle. All of us are aware that drivers are stepping up to meet new specs for the cars they have, some are in the works as we speak. Montana Brothers Race Cars (http://www.montanabros.com/) is going to be home to Lou and Shirley Denny’s new 25.2 numbers matching SS396 Chevelle Quick 8 Project for a short time. Still motivated by J & E Performance power, the car will be getting the full treatment to meet spec and bring another crowd pleaser to the much liked Heads Up Competitions, running in NSCA, and the Quick 8’s. The new car will bring a refreshing look to an already diverse class of brutally fast cars. With Lou's wife Shirley’s support and backing, they both brought us one of the most pleasing cars to watch in the previous year. This is a family that is glad to share this build up with gDR and its members, from start to finish of this all new car. We will be updating this project with full editorial by Nick Montana, Lou Denny, Joe White, and pictorials as this car goes through the evolution from stock Chevelle to an awesome machine.

25.2 is the SFI spec designation for safe chassis construction for heavier fastest street car types of race cars. ...or am I thinkng of SFI 25.1D?

Numbers matching? Well, you should already know what that it ;) :D .

Lou has already been racing a ultra clean 70SS Chevelle, But a unusual wheelstand took it's toll on the old car, shattering the trans, breaking all the motor plate mounts and all the other good stuff that goes allong with one of those on the bumper starts. This only made him realize with the new as of end of the 2004 year the cars will have to weigh less than 3,200lbs to go under 8.50's. I really seemed too large an expense to update the Older Chevelle so Lou had another sitting around and the financial means to do it. In the second part of the build we're covering the chassi and suspension as the double frame rail is almost complete and should define allot of questions about the Who, What, and How's of what it will take to run sub 7.49's in a door car.

25.5 will be Full Bodied Car Stock or Modified/OEM Floorpan and Firewall with OEM Frame or Uni-Body Construction – 7.50 to 8.49 Seconds; 3,600 lbs. Maximum,

25.2 is Full Bodied Car Tube Chassis – 7.49 Seconds & Quicker; 3,200 lbs. Maximum.

25.1E is Full Bodied Car Tube Chassis – 7.49 Seconds & Quicker; 2,800 lbs. Maximum.

They are some tight rules and it takes so much work to get a car as heavy as a Chevelle into the 3,200lb zone with stock floors and frame rails.
