I am typing this from my wifes SECOND new computer. Monday got the call the computer was back and ready to go, Gateway replaced the harddrive. Went to Best Buy and decided to give it a test run before leaving (sidebar I gave them the orignal box, etc. it came back loose). Battery is dead, so we use the power cable. All I get is "No OS detected". They told me that software installation was not included in the warranty and U would need to take it home and load the OS and other stuff I paid them to load the first time.

S**t hit the fan, I could tell because it got REALLLLLLL quiet and everyone was looking at me. I asked for a manager and explained my tale: I bought a new computer and was not taking a non working machine home. He got another one off the shelf, and now three days later (14 after I originally bought it) I have what I originally bought. I loaded up the USB Vista compatible wireless mouse and it fired right up. My HP printer drivers were on the computer so it was plug and play too.

After all the drama I'm happy for now, this machine screams and Miss Joan is happy. But Best Buy will never see my shadow except to get any warranty stuff this may need.

I would not bad mouth Best Buy. Sounds to me as if they took care of your situation. Life can be happy or sad. Only one individual can make that choice. When I get in a situation like you did I start to think of the beautiful waterfalls I've seen in the past.
Happy days with your new computer,
Jon

Sounds like they took care of his situtation to avoid having a boot in their a$$.

That ain't customer service. I just hope I don't have a similar problem. They are coming to adjust my plasma TV that I bought there not long ago.

You will get the best buy there, but not the best repairs. My wife works for a computer company and they get angry Best Buy customers in for repairs all the time. I guess that's job security for her.
