I was pulling my engine to have the rear seal fixed and went to push the car back into the
garage and was unable to.I jacked the rear end so both tires were off the floor and tried to spin the wheels forwad and was unable to but I was able to spin them backwards with no problem. The engine, transmission and driveshaft are not in the car. As far as i can tell the brakes are not hanging up. I pulled the rear cover off and ring and pinion look good.

Hoping someone has run into this before and can direct me where to start looking.

thanks for any suggestions.

May be a dumb question but is the emergency brake on? With drum brakes it is possible for wheels to be able to spin backwards but not forward.

Did you leave the driveshaft in and is it jammed up against the floor?

I know it's not the driveshaft it is completely out of the car and the emergency brakes are not connected to the the pedal in the car but i will makes sure that tomorrow.

With the engine out the front of the car sits higher right? Maybe the back sunk and the rear tires are rubbing on the fender wells?

thanks guys for all the suggestions, I went out and pulled both wheels off! When I pulled the back passanger tire and drum off I could spin the wheels with no problem so I put it back and the same thing, I couldn't turn the wheel! so tomorrow i will take a closer look at the brakes.

thanks for all the help and suggestions!!!

Brake adjuster is loose, allowing the brake shoe's to bind. I'd bet.
