Is a cam button and locking plate necesary on a solid f.t.? I know when I installed my hyd f.t. last year I asked and the consensus was no, but I keep getting told here its required.

i think you only need it on a roller or gear drive...

i dont have one on my solid ft and it runs fine........

only on a roller is a button necessary. The taper on the lobes keeps the cam in place towards the rear of the block.

That is, unless you are running a gear drive..
