I have heard that, as of 1-2 years ago, Eaton and Johnson stopped making hydraulic lifters, and that Stanadyne is the ONLY company making the flat tappet lifters for EVERYONE. Is this true?

If so, I guess we can just shop for lifters based on price, since everyone is reboxing the same stuff, right?

No, Johnson had discontinued lifter production a few years ago, but the plant was purchased and completely refurbished by Chet Staron, the owner of Topline. Stanadyne continues to make lifters and, as far as I know, A.C. Delco still makes them but their manufacturing facilities have been moved to Mexico. Reports are that the Mexican made lifters are of very good quality.
The recent shortage of lifters was caused by Johnson going out of business, but the new plant is now running at full capacity and making a very good product.

How does Stanadyne compare to A.C. Delco? I guess the lack of choices makes it easier to pick nowadays. smile.gif
