View Full Version : Need help with rear seat belts
Can someone measure the length of the webbing straps on their rear belts for me? I finally scored a set of front 64 belts on ebay and plan to convert them to rear useage.
Also, does anyone besides Ssnake-Oyl replace webbing?
Thanks in advance.

Your local upholstery shop should be able to help you out, might even be much cheaper, thats where Im taking mine today to get sewn up. However I cant help you with the rears, as mine are aftermarket and Brown (not black or blue) and are a universal fit.
ON a side note, I MAY have mine on the road this weekend, we'll see. The wife has been hitting on me to get our tax stuff done so that might take a couple hours out of my schedule this week.
Did you find out where the seat belts actually go yet? measurements of where holes are to be drilled. I just put my seat in, sat down and laid the belts next to me, then I marked some places on the body and drilled. I supported them on the back with some very large fender washers.

Those belts don't look really long.

twotone64 Feb 23rd, 08, 12:01 PM Danny,
I took my front seat belts into a local upholstery shop yesterday, he resewed mine due to the sewing being rotten, I asked him about getting webbing, and he said He should be able to get the webbing. I also thought about just getting some webbing from a newer car that has shoulder belts, would definately be long enough to cut some out of them and make new seat betls.
I've found lots of webbing on ebay and other places on the net. If I could get measurements from someone, I'd be good to go. Looking for the stock length. Someone? Anyone??
BobFmTyler Feb 25th, 08, 7:53 PM For male = 19.5 webbing turn down to webbing webbing turn down and add 2 & 1/8th to buckle end for sewing and 2 & 3/4 to mount bold end for sewing.
For female (Buckle portion) = 31 inches with additional 2 & 1/2 inches for bolt end and extra 1 inch for sewing at buckle end.
Thanks, Bob. I owe you one....or two. :beers:
Interesting....my front webbing measures 20" and 36", so the rear belts are actually a little shorter. Makes sense, now that I think about it.

Moveable front seats.
I have the rear belts out of my '69 Malibu and they measure exactly the same as Bob's.
Thanks, Von. Sounds like it's confirmed.
