Can anyone tell me what this switch is, what it does and do I need it? It is located on top of the bracket that holds the gas pedal to the firewall. It was not connected to anything when I bought the car. Thanks!

you need if 400 turbo equipped.

Okay, the rookie comes out in me...I do have a turbo 400.. What is a kick down switch??

it makes the engine make big growl when you mash the gas pedal to the floor at highway speeds.

After hitting the search files, it appears it allows the tranny to "kick" down from 3rd to 2nd for passing, correct? The car is new to me and I really haven't had a chance to drive it, just work on it. W/o the switch do you just go from 1st to second to third and then have to basically stop to get back to first?

I thought you said you did NOT have a 400.
